Kingfisher Airlines' chairman Vijay Mallya on Thursday wrote to employees threatening action against workers going on strike.
In the letter, Mallya said he will “act firmly and decisively" and that he will not allow a “small group of misguided employees to derail and jeopardise operations” and urged employees to ensure that the revised schedule is maintained.
The chairman, who had earlier this month written to his staff promising January salaries would be paid by May 9, wrote in yesterday's letter that “salaries being credited”
On Friday morning, Kingfisher Airlines cancelled 12 flights in Delhi after pilots failed to report to work.
On Thursday morning, some Kingfisher Airlines pilots called in sick in Delhi, causing two planes to be grounded and some flights cancelled. On Thursday evening, reports said a small group of ground staff and co-pilots had received wages.
The carrier is already flying a severely truncated summer schedule after tax authorities froze the company’s bank accounts, forcing it to ground several planes and cancel hundreds of flights. It is currently flying only 16 planes, which has now been reduced to 14.
